Junior Rifle Program

Introduction

FTRPA offers a Junior Rifle Program to club members, family, friends, and the local community. NRA certified instructors lead classes providing school aged children beginner and advanced shooting sports training. The beginner course teaches basic firearm safety and marksmanship. It is offered without charge. FTRPA maintains .22 caliber rimfire single shot rifles that are supplied for use in the course. Ear & eye protection and ammunition are also provided, along with all necessary course materials.

The Junior Rifle Program is divided into two groups:

• The Beginner (B) Group is for beginners aged 10 to 18 who have not previously attended the NRA Basic Rifle course and would like to learn basic shooting skills. Capacity is limited, and advanced registration is required for the B Group.
• The Advanced (A) – or returning – Group is for students who have completed the NRA Basic Rifle course through our program. All students aged 20 or under who have successfully completed the B Group are eligible to participate in this part of the program. Students do not need to make a commitment to attend a minimum number of sessions in the advanced group. Advanced registration for the A Group is required.

Registration

Capacity is limited, and advanced registration is required. We are in the process of updating our registration process, and information will be posted here and announced in late September.

Once registered, if plans change for your students in either B or A and they cannot attend, please give us as much notice as possible so we can accept additional students to fill the seats.
